A painting inspired by feminine, princess-like decor and competing power imbalances. While the clothed figure is in a physical position of power and the nude figure is theoretically in a more vulnerable position, the former cannot gaze upon the latter. Seemingly uncomfortable with her position, the nude figure holds a psychological position of power over the clothed figure.
